French suck at fast food!

We all know that the political corectness tempts us to the denial of Fast food, the hate of their values, the despise of their working conditions, in short the evil incarnated. Once that stated, the figures of this industry remain undeniable, even amongst a fragilized world economy. Well junk food is certainly not the healthiest thing to digest but to be fair, there has been way enough documentations produced on the subject during these past couple of years to pretend not knowing.

In France for example, the well fed disinformation about the subject is pretty high up, although Fast food joints kept appearing at the corners of our cities. It seems to me though that in my country, it's not so much the Fast Food industry who is bad, but the french who are just not good at it.

Last night was one of those very suffocatingly hot lazy sunday evening and i decided to go for a movie, picking up some "MacDo" on the way. The place is packed and after queuing 10 minutes inside without moving forward a single inch, i switch to the outdoor line supposedly faster "walk thru" to realize that both french customers and workers really suck at this.

The employees are really slow and never anticipate anything, like when you order a known feature such as a cheesburger, they just realize that they are out of it. They are always searching for something that wasn't "in place" Damn we are out of straws! Let's go get some , rip de bag open and scoop some more. I think that our culture just doesn't adapt to the fast concept. 25 minutes for 2 cheesburgers, an extremely watered down orange juice, no napkins and a forgotten straw! I know that this is a tough job but still! There are italian places that will serve you drinks and a well cooked pizza in less than that.

The thing is that french customers also don't get the gesture of it either. They will queue for 15 minutes, arrive at the counter and only then, try to decide what they would like to order, asking dozen of stupid questions such as "does the menu come with fries?" When they will need to pay, they will plunge into their duff bags searching for change that they sometimes don't have to finally ask "do you accept meal vouchers?" Seriously!

It is one thing to spit evil on an industry but let's be honnest and say that we do not have access to the top efficiency of what those franchises are capable of in the USA or even in Spain, and that from there it is hard to have somewhat of a good opinion about it. In France maybe food but definitely not fast!
